IDF SPOKESPERSON UPDATE

Last Night's Events in the area of Amona

Security forces deployed in the area of Amona last night in preparation
for the planned evacuation of the community, in accordance with the High
Court order. Currently, forces remain deployed in the area and await the
High Court decision on the matter due to take place later this morning.
Following are the night's events in the area of Amona: [1] An IDF
soldier was lightly wounded when Israeli civilians hurled a glass bottle
apparently filled with contact glue at him. The soldier received initial
medical treatment on location and was evacuated to a hospital for
further treatment. Three additional IDF soldiers were wounded during
Israeli riots in the area. [2] IDF forces arrested four Israeli
civilians at the exit of Silwad, after the four had crossed through the
village in order to reach the area of Amona. The four were taken for
questioning by Israel Police. [3] Some 50 Israeli civilians set up stone
roadblocks and blocked the passage on Route 60 between the Israeli
communities of Beit El and Ofra, and rioted in the area. Security forces
dismantled the roadblocks and dispersed the rioters. [4] Israeli
civilians hurled stones and poured water and paint at security forces in
the area of Amona in an effort to stop the planned evacuation of the
area. Two Israeli youths who attacked the forces were detained by IDF
forces and handed to Israel Police forces for questioning.
