Dov Weisglass may work for Prime Minister as External Advisor

"These days the possibility of an engagement between the Prime Minister's
Office and Mr. Dov Weisglass as an external advisor to the Office for a
limited period is being considered."

dated 31 May 2006 to David Bedein of Israel Resource News Agency, Jerusalem.

Mr. Weisglass is best known among some circles for misconstruing the phrase
"I understand" when voiced by Secretary of State Rice as meaning "I agree".

... The most sensitive items in the package have to do with the prisoners
and wanted individuals. To the Palestinians' question of how many prisoners
they would get, [Sharon's adviser Dov] Weisglass replied "a couple of
hundred." The Palestinians were taken aback: "Only 200?" Weisglass replied,
"I meant `a couple' in the British sense, meaning between 200 and 900."
After the meeting, [Saeb] Erekat and his colleagues let it be known that
Israel would release 900 prisoners. Later this was confirmed by the
Israelis, who said they would be released in two stages.
