Natan Sharansky to Address Worldwide Day of Prayer for the Peace of
Jerusalem
Jerusalem- Representing the Christian Allies Caucus of the Knesset, Member
of Knesset and former Government Minister Natan Sharansky will address a
gathering at Migdal David at Jaffa Gate early on Sunday morning as part of
the worldwide Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, a Christian-led
initiative for which 150,000 churches are expected to participate in
169 different nations. The Jerusalem celebration will be broadcast around
the world in 200 nations by G-dTV.
The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which is led by noted
Evangelical Christian leaders Rev. Robert Stearns, executive director of
Eagles' Wings, and Dr. Jack Hayford, president of the International Church
of the Foursquare, was launched internationally in 2003, and was established
in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of
Tourism, and the Christian Allies Caucus of the Knesset.
"The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem calls every Christian around
the world to respond to the mandate of the Holy Scriptures and pray for the
Peace of Jerusalem," said Stearns. "It is imperative that Christians begin
to understand the very real and urgent obligation they have to remember all
the inhabitants of Jerusalem in their prayers, and this prayer day connects
the Christian and Hebrew calendars each year."
The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem takes place on the first Sunday
of every October around the world, purposefully placing it in proximity to
the season of Yom Kippur. Stearns, Hayford and Sharansky will be joined at
the event this Sunday morning by members of the Christian Allies Caucus
including MKs Yuri Shtern, and Benny Elon, in addition to representatives of
other Government offices such as MFA, MOT and Sr. Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem
Yigal Amedi.
Christian Allies Caucus director Josh Reinstein said "We see the Day of
Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem as very important to the people of Israel,
and it is a priority initiative of the Caucus. Christians uniting in prayer
for Israel is one of the most positive developments in Judeo-Christian
relations today." The Jerusalem celebration is co-hosted by three
Israel-based Christian groups, the International Christian Embassy
Jerusalem, King of Kings Community, and Bridges for Peace.
The event at Migdal David begins at 9:00 AM sharp, press sign in is at 8:00.
