Suicide bombing thwarted
In a joint IDF and ISA operation in Tulkarm, security forces arrested Anan
Kamal Afif Yaish, a 19 year-old senior operative in Tulkarm's Tanzim
infrastructure.
Yaish was arrested in light of ISA information indicating that he was
heading a terror cell planning a suicide bombing against Israeli civilians
in the immediate future. The ISA received the information from Amar Sami
Muhammad Suliman, an 18 year-old designated as the bomber in the intended
attack. Suliman was arrested on November 23rd.
During the operation special Border Police forces surrounded the building in
which Yaish was located and called on loudspeakers for him to come out. They
then identified the armed Yaish and another man fleeing from the building.
The Border Policemen called on the men to stop and fired into the air. When
they did not comply, the forces fired at the two, wounding them. Yaish, who
was carrying a handgun, was hit in the leg and was later evacuated to a
hospital in Israel to receive medical treatment. The second man received
medical treatment by the forces on location, but died of his wounds while
being evacuated.
