A special team of state prosecutors has been working for the past several
weeks to determine whether or not to open a criminal investigation into
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's suspected intervention in the government tender
for the sale of the controlling interest in Bank Leumi stock, Channel 1's
"Mabat" news program revealed on Tuesday.

According to "Mabat," the police have obtained and submitted to the
attorneys assigned to the case incriminating evidence against the prime
minister.

Furthermore, the report said, Olmert is only one of several suspects.

State Comptrollers Micha Lindenstrauss is expected to publish in mid-January
reports on a number of corruption cases in which Olmert is allegedly
involved. Aside from the Bank Leumi shares scandal, an investigation is
being conducted into a number of real estate deals that may have been
conducted illegitimately, including the purchase of Olmert's home on Rehov
Cremieux in Jerusalem.
