Palestinian sentenced to a life term for the murder of the Italian tourist-
Angelo Frammartino in August 2006 in Jerusalem

Today the Military Court of Judea sentenced Ashraf Hanaisha to a life term
for the stabbing and killing of an Italian tourist in August 2006 in
Jerusalem. Hanaisha purchased a knife in Ramallah, arrived at Jerusalem and
ambushed victims near Herod's Gate. When a group of Italian tourists arrived
at the Gate, Hanaisha stabbed one of them in his back and ran away from the
scene. The injured tourist, Angelo Frammartino, died of his wounds. Under
the pressure of his family, Hanaisha turned himself into the hands of the
security forces. During a police investigation Hanaisha admitted to
committing the murder. Towards the beginning of his trial, Hanaisha pleaded
guilty and was convicted. The military court sentenced him to a life term.
