IDF thwarts attack on IDF post near the Gaza security fence

Now released for publication: Following an alert received from the ISA, the
IDF targeted today two vehicles carrying an Islamic Jihad terror cell in the
central Gaza Strip. The vehicles were attacked as they approached the
security fence with the intention of infiltrating Israel and carrying out an
attack. The planned attack included the taking over of an IDF post and the
abduction of an IDF soldier.

One of the vehicles contained hundreds of kilograms of explosives and was
intended to explode inside Israel. Six gunmen were killed in the attack.

The IDF will continue to operate against the terror organizations in order
to ensure the security and safety of the citizens of Israel.
