Marking the shortest day of the year
The Old City Walls of Jerusalem will be illuminated in green

Aimed at raising awareness to green and environmental issues,

The illumination will be kept on for the visit of President Bush in
Jerusalem.

The old city walls of Jerusalem will be illuminated in unique green
lighting, during a special lighting ceremony that will take place on
Thursday, December 20th 2007 , 18:00 at the David Citadel Hotel.

The mayor of Jerusalem, Uri Lupolianski will turn on the festive green
lighting, aimed at raising awareness to green and environmental issues and
saving energy.

To create the illumination on the walls, green filters will be placed on the
decorative lightning of the old city walls. No extra lightning will be added
and the lights will be illuminated an hour later than usual -so that energy
will be saved. The illumination of the old city walls will be carried out
in cooperation with The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and
Greenpeace.

The Jerusalem municipality in association with the society for the
protection of nature in Israel have promoted in the last few years several
environmental plans and projects such as: maintaining open areas, saving
energy by switching to energy saving light bulbs, recycling and preventing
air pollution, in order to fight global warming. Mayor Lupolianski marked
that he is proud that Jerusalem will be the one to deliver the message of
saving our environment. Greenpeace welcomed the initiative by the Jerusalem
municipality.

The ceremony will take place at the David Citadel Hotel, on the 10th floor.
