Esther Pollard met with Eli Yishai (07/01/08) and gave him a letter to
deliver personally to President Bush. In spite of heavy pressure by Prime
Minister Olmert not to deliver the letter, Minister Yishai handed it
personally to the president along with a heart-felt appeal from HaRav Ovadia
Yosef calling for the immediate release of Jonathan Pollard.

Especially now, with the departure of Yisrael Beiteinu from the coalition,
Minister Eli Yishai is in a position of considerable influence. As the
count-down to the release of the Winograd Report continues, Yishai's
personal power is invincible. Now is the time for him to use it, to bring
Jonathan Pollard home. Bush personally expressed interest in "helping"
Yishai to stay in the coalition. Let's help Minister Yishai by letting him
know we back him, and by imploring him: Don't quit in the middle! You
started the ball rolling, now bring Pollard home!
