Background: Tzipi Livni adopting "Balls of Steel" as her image for campaign

Background: Tzipi Livni adopting "Balls of Steel" as her image for campaign
Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 21 September 2008

It isn't clear if Tzipi Livni is following the recommendation of her PR team
or came up with it by herself, but in any case it is becoming rapidly clear
that she has decided to adopt a "balls of steel" image to prove she is the
rightful heir to Ariel Sharon's mantle.

On Friday she took a vocal position calling for PM Olmert to resign ASAP.

Today she vetoed delaying Olmert's resignation until after President Peres'
trip to the UN this week to give her more time to try to put together a new
coalition.

In fact, Livni has even said that if she can't put together a coalition
within two weeks she will go to elections.

It's a win-win situation for Livni:

The odds of putting together a coalition after two weeks with a deadline are
pretty close to the odds of doing it in six.

If she succeeds she can smirk, with the same glee that Sharon did, at the
whores who cut their demands in order to sit in the cabinet.

If she fails, she goes to elections with the story that she doesn't put up
with garbage and is Israel's Ariel Sharon in a pants suit.

And having this story is very important for the media.

Because otherwise Tzipi Livni's story is pretty thin.

Her ideology - what we know of it - doesn't appeal to most voters.

Her track record as foreign minister is basically limited to the failed UN
Security Council Resolution that ended the Second Lebanon War. If you want
to dig deeper, she is the genius who thinks that instead of explaining and
defending Israel's policies overseas, Israel should tell the world we have
girls in bikinis, homosexuals and high tech.

With a "balls of steel" story and a cooperative media, she may be able to
run the entire campaign without ever having to seriously deal with either
issues or her record.
