COGAT: 22-28.09 - HUMANITARIAN AID TO THE GAZA STRIP

Humanitarian Effort - Humanitarian Aid to the Gaza Strip Weekly and
Accumulative figures
22-28 February 2009

Despite ongoing rocket and mortar fire in to Israel, humanitarian crossing
activities continued. Throughout the week, 14,299 tons of humanitarian aid,
food commodities, medical supplies and medication and supplies for the
private and public sectors were transferred to the Gaza Strip via Kerem
Shalom cargo terminal and the Karni conveyor belt.

2,200,000 liters of heavy duty diesel, for the Gaza power station were
delivered via Nahal Oz fuel depot. Also, following the resumption of
delivery of domestic gas 492 tons to the Gaza Strip were transferred to
Gaza. Despite various reports, supply of gas for domestic uses is relient
entirely on Palestinian demand and is not subject to any limitation by
Israel.

153 Medical evacuations from Gaza to Israel took place (including escorts),
via Erez crossing. Also, 4 ambulances that evacuated incapacitated
Palestinians requiring medical assistance in Israel were coordinated to
leave Gaza.

121,748 tons of humanitarian aid has been delivered to Gaza since the
unilateral cease fire. Also, 11,390,900 liters of heavy duty diesel were
transferred to Gaza for the power station.

254 truckloads of humanitarian aid were delivered this week by the
international community. The vast majority of this aid was at the request of
UNRWA that shipped 118 truckloads of goods.

International Aid & Donations
A total of 254 trucks with international aid and donations were shipped
this week to Gaza. Donations included basic food commodities, school kits,
ambulances and other essential items.

Kerem Shalom & Karni accumulative summary
Throughout the week a total of 14,299 tons of aid were transferred to the
Gaza Strip, including International aid, donations, food supplies, medical
supplies, medication, hypochloride, dairy and meat products, various types
of grain, vaccines and fodder for livestock. Karni conveyor belt facilitated
shipping of 5370 tons of grain. Kerem Shalom did not operate on Friday,
27.2.2009 at the request of the Palestinian side. Throughout the week, 60%
of the goods transferred were at the request of the private sector and 40%
were at the request of the international community.

Nahal Oz
Nahal Oz Fuel Depot operated from Sunday - Thursday conveying 2,200,000
liters of heavy duty diesel and 492 tons of domestic gas.
