President Shimon Peres and Mayor Barkat Turn Off the Lights of Jerusalem
Jerusalem, Israel, April 16 - President Shimon Peres and Jerusalem Mayor Nir
Barkat will celebrate Earth Hour in the Mamilla-Alrov Quarter by turning off
the lights to the walls of the old city of Jerusalem for one hour. They join
the residents of Jerusalem who are urged to turn their lights off for one
hour that evening as well as businesses that will be participating and
restaurants that will feature candle light dining (participating restaurants
listed at: www.rest.co.il/60).
Scheduled Events:
1600 - Open Fair in the Mamilla-Alrov Quarter featuring environmentally
friendly organizations including the Society for the Protection of Nature in
Israel, the Museum of Science, and the Jerusalem Municipality Department of
the Environment.
2010 - President Peres and Mayor Barkat turn off the lights to the old city

2100 - 'Unplugged' Street Party to be held on Shushan street in the center
of the city featuring local bands and discounted shopping for youth and
students.
