For Immediate Release, November 8, 2009

While tens of thousands of Jews from Israel and the US are ascending to
Hebron for the traditional Shabbat Chayei Sarah Celebration this weekend
when the details of the first Jewish real estate transaction will be read
from the weekly Torah portion, this ancient city is making headlines in the
New York area as well.

The NY Mets organization will be honoring their commitment to rent the
Caesar's Club in Citi Field to the Hebron Fund which will be holding their
annual fundraiser on Saturday night Nov. 21, despite a letter of protest
sent by anarchist and extreme left wing activists.

The news of the Mets' decision was greeted by both Jewish organizations and
individuals with expressions of great admiration. A number of dedicated
Jewish activists including Rabbi Pesach Lerner, executive director of the
National Council of Young Israel and Lori Lowenthal Marcus of the newly
formed Z STREET have called for expressions of support for the NY Mets and
have asked the Jewish public to make every effort to attend the Hebron Fund
dinner.

In advance of last year's dinner a claim was made that 8 "organizations"
appealed to the NY Marriott Marquis to cancel the event and threatened to
demonstrate. The "8" "Organizations" managed to produce less than 1.5
protesters per "organization". A short video of the protest with its poor
showing can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWWtSHimb44.

In actuality, the protest was organized by a few anti-Israel Jews affiliated
with the Arab Adalah organization whose main work is fighting against
consensus organizations such as "Friends of the IDF" and pushing their
"Campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel" - which
attempts to discourage businessmen from doing business with Israel.

At last year's dinner, a member of this so-called "Peace" organization
smashed the headlights of the car being used by Hebron Fund director Yossi
Baumol (which bears large "Hebron" stickers) in the Marriott parking lot,
and about a week earlier forced his way into the Hebron Fund offices.

This year a letter has been written in the name of "11" mostly unknown
"organizations" asking the Citi Field administration to cancel the event.
The letter can be seen at http://adalahny.org/. In addition, the Adalah
website features the Hebron Fund 1 minute video of a baseball game in
Yiddish promoting the dinner, as well as their video spoof of the Hebron
video which was produced by plagiarizing graphics from the Hebron fund film.

The original Hebron Fund movie can be seen at:

can be seen at: http://palsolidarity.org/2009/11/9205.

Here are just two of the letters sent to the NY Mets:

Mets Baseball Team

Dear Mets Team:

I confess I have never been to a baseball game in my life. I confess
whenever baseball games come on radio or television I change the channel. I
confess I don't know who is in (or not in) the World Series until I hear the
names a few times here and there. But one thing I absolutely know, and will
now always remember, the Mets are a decent group of people.

I listen to Dennis Prager on the radio very often. He said that the world
is made up of only two kinds of people - the decent and the indecent.
Religions, color, ethnic background all are meaningless - all that counts is
that someone is decent or not decent. You have all passed that test. I
applaud you for telling those who are not decent to back off and buzz off.
They want a boycott of Israel, they want to discredit Hebron's people, they
want to discredit all of Israel's people - these "boycotters" are the
indecent in the world.

Thank you for your principled stance. You may/may not know that this effort
to ostracize Israel is in every way - including the boycott of Israeli
people, products, professions. This is an on-going effort in many countries.
In fact, in Canada, a BUYcott of Israeli goods has started to try to counter
some of these unending assaults.

So thank you for saying, "No," to this despicable and indecent group of
people. Their lies and smears will snare many more - but the Mets didn't
take the bait. I can now say that the Mets have won the World Series with
me!

Roberta E. Dzubow
Plymouth Meeting, PA

Dear NY Mets,

I never thought I would be writing you. As a die hard Yankees fan there is
little interaction we share except for the Subway series I guess. But I
write to you today to express my sincere appreciation to your ownership for
hosting the upcoming Hebron dinner. As a life long New Yorker and as a first
responder to the terror attacks on 9/11, I know well the price we all must
pay for religious freedoms. Though we do not share baseball ideology we
obviously agree that truth and liberty must always be supported and nurtured
and we must never cow to hatred. I plan on attending this event at City
Field specifically because you and the heroic people of Hebron have shown
yourselfs to be people of conviction. The citizens of Hebron and Israel are
lucky to have a great friend in the Wilpons and the NY Mets. Thank you for
your uncompromising stand in the face of misguided political pressure.
You've done the right thing and I'll be sure to support it.

Job Well done,
Chaskel Bennett
