Ahmadinejad: Enemy Unable to Intercept Iranian Missiles

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated on Sunday
that the advanced laser technology used in Iranian missiles has made enemies
unable to intercept them.

"The problem of Iran's enemies is that they have not yet built a system to
intercept Iranian missiles," Ahmadinejad said addressing the inauguration
ceremony of an exhibition on the achievements of Iran's National Center of
Laser Sciences and Technologies.

Referring to Iran's achievements in laser sciences, he stressed that the
country's scientists are making rapid progress in the field, and that only
one country is in possession of a laser technology more advanced than that
of Iran.

He also pointed out that Iran is now able to use laser technology for
enriching uranium with more accuracy and speed and with a higher quality,
but said the country would not resort to laser enrichment as it has already
opted for the centrifuge method.

Iran has recently boosted activity and research in the field of laser
technology.

The Iranian defense ministry on Saturday inaugurated the production line of
a laser-guided anti-chopper missile, 'Qaem', which has high penetration and
destructive power.

Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said at the inauguration ceremony that
the semi-heavy laser-guided missile can destroy targets flying at low speeds
and altitudes, specially the aggressive choppers equipped with armor-like
bodies.

He also boasted that Qaem missiles are not prone to enemy's electronic
warfare as they are laser-guided.
