Jamaran Destroyer's Missile Systems Pass Tests Successfully

TEHRAN (FNA)- The missile systems of Iran's advanced Jamaran destroyer were
successfully tested on Tuesday.

FNA correspondent reported that the test was carried out in Iran's southern
waters in the Persian Gulf this afternoon.

The Nour (light) surface-to-surface missiles successfully hit their
specified targets in the test.

The test came after the destroyer's different systems were completed

In February 2010, the Jamaran destroyer was launched in the southern waters
of the country in a ceremony attended by senior navy commanders and Supreme
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The Mowdge Class vessel has a displacement of around 14,000 tons and is
equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities.

Jamaran is armed with a variety of anti-ship and surface-to-air missiles.

Iran has been pushing an arms development program in recent years in a bid
to reach self-sufficiency. It has produced its own jet fighters and armored
vehicles as well as radar-avoiding missiles and other high-tech weapons.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is also capable of manufacturing various kinds
of naval vessels such as missile cruisers and destroyers.
