Saudi Arabia has expressed its continued support for all treaties and
conventions to fight terrorism and threats to international aviation.

This is according to Prince Turki Bin Faisal Bin Turki, Deputy President of
the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), who led a Saudi delegation
to China for the International Diplomatic Conference to Review The Hague and
Montreal Conventions on aviation security.

Prince Turki said Saudi Arabia presented a working paper calling for some
alterations to the articles of the two conventions that would preserve the
interests of Saudi Arabia and Arab countries.

In his speech to the conference, which started on Tuesday, Prince Turki
expressed the hope that delegates would reach agreement on contentious
issues.

He praised the current civil aviation security conventions of Tokyo, The
Hague and Montreal, noting that these are milestones in international air
law. "The entire international civil aviation community appreciates these
treaties. Saudi Arabia is no exception," he added.

Prince Turki said the good attendance shows that the international community
wants to make this a successful conference.

He added that Saudi Arabia is open to cooperation with all willing parties.
He also thanked the Chinese government for hosting the event.
