| Minister Moshe Kahlon: All Likud ministers supported removing handling of settlements from Barak
Ya'alon will be a candidate for Likud chairman in the next elections 11 December 2010[IMRA translation]
In a meeting with leaders of "Likud Land of Israel Faithful" at the office of Attorney Aviad Visoly in Haifa last Friday, Minister Moshe Kahlon said
that the Likud ministers supported removal of the handling of settlements
from Barak and only Netanyahu opposes it.
Asked how it was possible for Likud MKs, who led the Likud in the elections under a platform opposing a Palestinian state, contend with the "Bar-Ilan
University address" of Netanyahu and his plan for "two states for two
peoples", the MKs replied that in the next primary elections, Likud members
will determine the path of the Likud with regard to a Palestinian state:
voting for Netanyahu who supports it or Ya'alon who opposes it.
Kahlon considers Ya'alon as a candidate to lead the Likud keeping the original values and he will collaborate more closely with him at weekly
 meetings.
According to Kahlon, Netanyahu's declared goal in negotiations with the Palestinians is to reach an agreement that would not require the evacuation
of any settlements at all, although he is not convinced that Netanyahu could
 meet the target set.
Kahlon also said that the PM told him, when he told him to return from the media conference in Eilat to vote on the referendum bill in the Knesset,
that any agreement with the Palestinians would be brought to a referendum,
so as not to create a rift among the people as during the Oslo Accords.
According to Kahlon, Netanyahu said that if the Palestinians unilaterally declare a state at the UN, Israel will be free of any agreements,
obligations towards the international community regarding Palestinians in
Judea and Samaria, and hence implies that Israel could annex any part of
 Judea and Samaria it wants.
Kahlon said the plan to transfer the new road from Bir Zeit to the responsibility of the PA was canceled.
Kahlon said he plans to raise before Netanyahu and his government the question of why Israel does nothing to cancel the law in the Palestinian
Authority that sets the death penalty for any Arab who sells or rents a
 house or land to Jews.
