Interior Ministry: 6710 Rioters Released after Turning Themselves in

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- The Interior Ministry said that the number of those
involved in riot acts in Syria who turned themselves in to the police and
security forces so far reached 6710 persons from different Syrian provinces.

The rioters were immediately released after pledging not to repeat acts that
may harm the security of the homeland and the citizens.

At an earlier time, the Ministry issued a statement calling for those who
were misled into participating in or committing unlawful acts punishable by
law including carrying weapons, disrupting security or giving false
statements to turn themselves in and hand over their weapons to the
competent authorities and inform authorities about saboteurs and terrorists
and the whereabouts of weapons.

The Ministry made it clear that those who turn themselves within the defined
period will be exempted from punishment and the legal consequences and
prosecutions.
