IDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Yoav (Poly) Mordechai, said today during a
televised interview that the incident at the Syrian border took place in the
Avivim area by Maroun al-Ras, when civilians physically attempted to "damage
security infrastructures." According to him, IDF opened fire and several
locals were injured. He explains that as part of the incident the IDF
cooperated with the Lebanese Army, which attempted to prevent provocation.

Brig. Gen. Mordechai mentions that Northern Command commander Maj. Gen. Gadi
Eizenkot and Golan Heights Division Commander are commanding over the
incident from the field. According to him, there are still hundreds of
citizens attempting to breach the security fence – and the IDF is preventing
it. The IDF spokesperson also mentions that three soldiers were slightly
injured.

Simultaneously, in the West Bank hundreds of civilians are protesting at the
Qalandia crossing, with no special incidents. At the Erez crossing in the
Gaza Strip, tens of civilians breached the Hamas roadblock during the early
afternoon hours and attempted to damage the crossing, which also gives
Palestinians humanitarian aid. "The IDF used riot dispersion means in the
area, as well as live fire with some injured. These are not peaceful
protests with flowers and love songs, but rather true provocations,"
explains the Spokesperson.
