Israel Pathways - The Israel Trail
http://www.masaisrael.org/Masa/English/The+Israel+Trail.htm
Program Overview
Spend five months hiking Israel’s National Trail (Shvil Chotzei Yisrael),
covering all 580 miles of terrain spanning the entire length of the country.
The trail winds from Dan, a northern town bordering Lebanon, down to Eilat
on the Red Sea in the south. Hike across Israel from border to border and
from sea to sea, using the Land as your classroom and playground to learn
about Jewish history where it happened.
Along the way we will break to participate in a series of off-the-path
programs designed to expose you to different aspects of Israeli society.
These "mini-programs" range from 2-10 days in length and include the
following types of experiences:
- Nature photography course
- Wilderness First Aid course
- Carmel forest restoration project
- Livnot U’Lehibanot study in Tzfat
- Adam & Eve Eco-Israel Farm
- Gadna – basic training simulation
On hiking days, overnights will range from camping, to guesthouses, to
hotels, and dormitories. During some remote hiking stretches, our only
option will be camping under the stars. Although many stretches of the
program will be off-the-trail, and we will be staying in a variety of
guesthouses, hotels, and other facilities. Come challenge yourself to an
incredible adventure in Israel!
Optional Extension: Uganda Brit Olam
Opt to continue your experience in Uganda for three months. There you’ll
live in a local village and train, counsel, and empower vulnerable youth and
refugee children by combining arts education, social work, and art therapy.
