Former Official Blames Zionists for Detention of Iranian Reporter in
Azerbaijan

TEHRAN (FNA)- A former Iranian civil defense official took the US and the
Zionist regime responsible for detaining a reporter working for the Iranian
television in Azerbaijan.

"The pressures of the Zionists and the US had a role in arresting the IRIB's
reporter by the Azeri government," Former Director-General of Iran's Civil
Defense Davoud Ahmadinejad told FNA on Monday.

He referred to the efforts made by some reporters in revealing the relations
between the Zionists and a number of regional governments, and said such
states do their best to keep their ties with Israel hidden.

The Azeri police arrested a journalist working for Iranian television on
drug charges, his brother said on Sunday.

Anar Bayramli was arrested at his home in Baku on Friday, his brother Eldar
Bayramli said.

"They said my brother was detained in connection with drugs, but that is not
logical. He does not even smoke cigarettes," Eldar Bayramli said.

The journalist works for Iran's Sahar television station. His brother said
that before the arrest, the reporter had also been summoned to the police
station several times recently and questioned about his politics.

The Azeri police have recently arrested FNA's correspondent in the country
as well.
