A Cannon-Equipped Aircraft?
Airbus plans to install a precision cannon onboard an aircraft that is
jointly marketed with IAI

The aircraft manufacturer Airbus is examining an offer to convert one of its
aircraft into one equipped with a precision cannon for aiding ground forces.
The aircraft in question is one that Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is
helping to adapt to various uses.

The concept is to have a cannon installed onboard, which would then be able
to hit ground targets with a considerable precision. The aircraft which is
currently being considered for the cannon is the C-295. According to an
agreement signed between IAI and Airbus in 2011, it would be jointly
marketed as an Early Warning aircraft.

It would be equipped in this configuration with radar systems and other
sensors produced by Elta, an IAI subsidiary.

Jordan is one of the potential clients for such an aircraft.
