Almagor slams justice system for light sentences for firebomb throwers

Almagor slams justice system for light sentences for firebomb throwers
Almagor – The Terrorist Victims Association Saturday, December 27, 2014

Terrorists who throw Molotov cocktails receive encouragement from the
Israeli court system that views such acts sympathetically. The punishment
for such acts are never more than a year in prison.

In light of the recent terrorist attack on Thursday evening, Almagor – The
Terrorist Victims Association, condemns the Israeli justice system and
prosecution that consider the throwing of Molotov cocktails to be a joke and
the courtroom a safe haven for such terrorist acts. “The Israel justice
system encourages these terrorists by viewing their acts with sympathy and
forgiveness especially if the perpetrators are minors or teens!” says Meir
Indor, the Chairman of Almagor. “They are sentenced to terms of a half a
year to a year in prison – punishments that have no proportion to the
seriousness of the crime of attempted murder as was evident from the recent
incident. There is an urgent need to increase the severity of these crimes
in the eyes of the law that must include legislation that will not allow the
prosecution or the judges leeway of mercy when dealing with such terrorists
and to close plea bargains with their lawyers that do not intimidate
perpetrators to repeat their crimes”.

Almagor want to emphasize the phenomenon of light punishments that only
encourage minors to join the cycle of terror and to cause them to constantly
repeat their appearances in the courtroom as are mentioned repeatedly in the
written verdicts of the judges.
