Dear President Obama: Explain why pigs can fly

Dear President Obama,

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explains that while he would like to have
a Jewish independent state of Israel living side by side in peace and
security with a sovereign, independent Palestinian state that any rational
realistic assessment of the situation is compelled to reach the conclusion
that it is IMPOSSIBLE at this juncture to have a Jewish independent state of
Israel living side by side in peace and security with a sovereign,
independent Palestinian state.

Now I appreciate that its annoying to be told that you are dead wrong.

That the policy you are advocating indicates you are profoundly clueless and
out of touch with reality.

But hey.

You are in good company.

There are all kinds of Israeli ex-generals and senior security people who
are also profoundly clueless and out of touch with reality.

That said.

If you really genuinely believe that the assessment is wrong then argue your
point!

As it stands your angry response is perceived here as no different than the
angry response of a child told that Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy isn't
real.

And since you are the President of the United States of America, our leader
is going to try to placate you by saying something about the holy magical
"two state solution".

Want to keep turning the screws?

Dennis Ross recommended today that we start making sacrifices to the
concessions Moloch to placate you.

But the problem is that anything we do will be rewarded with only a short
period of relief from pressure, to be followed be even greater pressure for
ever greater concessions.

Turning the screws now too tight may actually force our leadership to reach
the conclusion that we can't continue kicking the can down the road with
concessions.

And it appears that Mr. Netanyahu is assembling a coalition government that
could vote to take our fate in our hands.

A reminder: all it takes is a cabinet vote to extend Israeli law over Area
C.

And Mr. Obama, while your blood boils over those damn Israelis for implying
that you are indeed profoundly clueless and out of touch with reality, the
reality is that our neighbors - the Egyptians, Saudis, Jordanians and
moderate Gulf States are VERY MUCH IN TOUCH WITH REALITY! They may talk the
talk about a Palestinian state, but they are no more interested in waking up
with a radical Islamic Palestinian state our side of the Jordan River than
we are!

So it is really up to you:

Accept Netanyahu's if-pigs-can-fly acceptance of the holy magical "two state
solution" or keep turning the screws until we opt to take our fate in our
hands.

The irony?

Years from now analysts may conclude that dramatic Israeli moves to address
the challenge of the West Bank supported by the national camp were only
launched thanks to your pressure.
