Iran to Launch Int'l Cartoon Contest on 'Zionist Caliphate'

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran is due to hold an international cartoon contest titled
'Zionist Caliphate' in theme and portrait sections.

The contest event is sponsored and organized by The Iranian Cultural-Art
Masaf Institute.

In a statement issued this week, the organizers said the focus of the
portrait section will be on Theodor Herzl, the founder of the Zionist
regime, and Queen Elizabeth of England.

The theme section of the contest will focus on 'Zionism, terrorism and
racism' and 'ISIL terrorism and genocide in the name of religion and to the
benefit of the Zionists', it added.

The contest prizes will include a 5000-dollar award for the cartoon, and a
1000-dollar award for the caricature sections and four 500-dollar awards for
the top four selected works.

According to organizers, cartoons should be sent in the 300 dpi. jpg format
before
June 16, 2016, one month after the Nakba (Catastrophe) day - when more than
700,000 Palestinian Arabs fled or were expelled from their homes, during the
1948 Palestine war.

"Artists' applications and files should also carry their first and last
names, phone number and email which should be sent to
info@cartoonsclan.com," the statement said.

On May 14, Iran held the International Holocaust Cartoon Contest and
Exhibition in Tehran which ended work on May 30.

The exhibition's secretariat received 864 artworks from artists of 50 world
states.

"We have witnessed the eye-catching participation of the western and
European cartoonists in this edition of the exhibition, with the French
artists showing the largest presence," the Contest's secretary said.

He added that artists from non-Muslim states had also participated in the
exhibition, including from Brazil and China.
