Weekly Commentary: Bennett Deserves Credit For Staying the Course on COVID
Response
Dr. Aaron Lerner 3 October, 2021
Ever since Prime Minister Naftali Bennett first made it clear that he was
taking a holistic approach to the COVID-19 challenge rather than focusing
exclusively on incident figures, he has faced ongoing media and political
pressure to sacrifice the Jewish State's economy in return for some possible
reduction in COVID-19 cases
Bennett was blamed for the 4th wave COVID-19 deaths, almost all of whom died
because they declined to be vaccinated or get the booster.
But he did not give in. When warned that the hospitals could not handle the
expected crest in serious cases, Bennett increased capacity rather than shut
down the country.
And while Bennett's goal and concept has been clear and consistent, there's
been a dynamic approach towards developing and implementing solutions.
Thanks to these policies we now find ourselves witnessing what appears to be
the beginning of the end of the 4th wave with our economy and schools
remaining open.
This as equipment needed to prevent a 5th COVID-19 wave from closing Israel
down already in place.
