After heavy ad campaign "tens of thousands" protest at Kirya for hostage deal at any
cost
Dr. Aaron Lerner 22 September 2024
As previous weeks, Haaretz reports that "tens of thousands" participated Saturday
night at a protest by the Kirya's Begin Gate in Tel Aviv for a hostage deal
at any cost.
This time YNET also reported "tens of thousands" rather than "huge crowds".
The turnout of "thousands" came despite a heavy ad campaign, including long
dramatic radio advertisements featured on Reshet Bet before each hourly news
bulletin.
Given the threat of full-scale war from the North which could include
hundreds of thousands of Hezbollah rockets and missiles raining down on the
entire country, the audience for those broadcasts was no doubt many fold
regular levels.
In addition to the apparently paid ad campaign, Reshet Bet continued with
featuring recordings of hostage family members pleading for a deal and/or
slamming Netanyahu in the overwhelming majority of inserts broadcast
immediately before the news bulletin.
Reshet Bet and other media also previewed the protest in their broadcasts
with television stations broadcasting live reports in advance of the
scheduled protest.
